US Open Purse Soars to Record $175 Million
Biggest Prize Pool in Event History
Total Player Compensation Tops $60 Million for First Time
The 2022 US Open is set to make history as the first edition of the prestigious tournament to offer a total purse of more than $60 million.
A year after the USGA handed out a record $125 million at Torrey Pines, the total prize money payout at The Country Club has jumped to a staggering $175 million.
The winner of the tournament is set to take home a cool $3.15 million, while the runner-up will receive $1.8 million and the third-place finisher will earn $1.22 million.
These figures represent a significant increase from the 2021 prize payout, which saw the winner receive $2.25 million and the total purse stand at $12.5 million.
The increase in prize money reflects the growing popularity of the US Open, which is one of the four major championships in professional golf.
